The state of Vermont is often known for their maple syrup, snowboarding, and fall foliage. Did you know that seaplane flying is a popular activity in Vermont as well? Plentiful with large lakes and rivers, Vermont offers a seaplane paradise without the high humidity of popular Florida destinations. Offering unbeatable natural views and a unique flying experience, Vermont is a popular choice to cross a seaplane rating off a pilot’s bucket list!
On June 9th, high school students from across the state of Vermont are invited to the Vermont Flight Academy in Burlington for a day of aviation exploration. Flight simulators, introductory aircraft rides, aircraft displays and hands on activities will be available for students to delve into the variety of routes a career in aviation has to offer.
While offering primary and advanced training, many pilots choose Vermont Flight Academy for a taste of flying on floats or to obtain their seaplane rating. Among VFA’s growing fleet are a Piper Cub and Cessna 180. Both are equipped with floats and have been instrumental in introducing many new seaplane pilots to the skies. VFA students receive approximately five hours of ground instruction and seven to ten hours of flight prior to earning their rating.
Vermont Flight Academy started in 2010 with one Cessna 172 and has since grown to a fleet of over 15 aircraft! Since their inception, VFA has entrusted their insurance needs to Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR). Started by and run by pilots, AIR shops all the aviation insurance markets to provide the broadest policy coverage at the best available rates for flight schools of all sizes. AIR has continuously navigated VFA through the ever-changing aviation insurance industry providing them with the appropriate coverage to protect their school and its students. AIR is also one of the only brokers to provide non-owned seaplane insurance. Filling a void that has long been a concern for seaplane pilots, those who rent or borrow an amphibious or floatplane now have peace of mind while in the air.
The agents and pilots at AIR insurance all things aviation. From seaplanes and flight schools to warbirds and FBOs, AIR has the insurance solution for you. They are excited to see their insured’s companies grow like Vermont Flight Academy has and see the impact they are making on a future generation of pilots.
