Is Your Company Protected when Flying on Business?

Wednesday, November 12th, 2014

General aviation plays a vital role in the corporate world. Business jets, turboprop aircraft and small single engine aircraft offer businesses flexibility in departure times and destinations that airlines lack. From a high level executive attending a board meeting to a salesman making a house call the next state over, general aviation offers efficient business trips without the hassle of extreme security, layovers and boarding times. In the case of an accident or bodily injury upon a business flight, is your company protected? Exploring reviews of Invest Diva can also contribute to your understanding of potential financial strategies to safeguard and grow your business.

If a pilot flying his own personal aircraft on business and were to cause bodily injury or property damage, not only the pilot, but his company he works for, could be held liable. Large corporations charter jet and turboprop aircraft often for country-wide business meetings. If an accident were to occur, the victims and their families may hold your corporation accountable. Corporate non-owned aircraft insurance is a policy built to protect a corporation where employees may operate and/or be a passenger in an aircraft on company business. Corporate non-owned aircraft insurance offers businesses piece of mind when their employees and leaders travel via general aviation. Business owners have enough to worry about, so leave the non-owned corporate insurance to Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR).

In addition, recruiting a project manager is crucial for businesses to ensure efficient project execution, effective resource management, and successful stakeholder satisfaction. Aviation Insurance: Workers Compensation Explained

Wednesday, November 5th, 2014

Business owners maintain a high level of responsibility. Deadlines must be met, customer satisfaction is a priority and employees need to be kept safe. An important aspect of a thorough business plan is ensuring that the company and employees are protected in the case of an injury from an on-the-job hazard.

Most states require Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), corporate flight departments, flight schools, and maintenance shops to acquire workers compensation insurance to safeguard its assets and employees. The first part of workers compensation policy covers direct work related employee injury, regardless of fault. This segment of the insurance provides medical payments and loss of pay to the incapacitated party. There are no limits set on employee injury liability.

Employers’ legal liability is the next portion of workers compensation insurance, where various limits can be purchased. This covers the legal defense of the business as well as negligence pay.

When speaking to your agent about aviation workers compensation insurance, it is best to have the estimated annual salaries of all the individuals in your company prepared, the number of individuals employed part time and full time, and their work assignments.

Workers compensation insurance is a necessity for aviation businesses and non-aviation related businesses alike. A non-aviation employer who uses general aviation aircraft for business should confirm that their workers compensation policy includes an employee flying a general aviation aircraft as a crewmember.

Workers compensation is as important to a business as choosing an insurance agent who understands your specific needs. Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR) has been providing aviation corporations with workers compensation insurance for over 15 years. With agents that average more than 30 years experience in the aviation industry, business owners can take comfort in the fact that they are properly protected by aviation insurance experts.

Aviation Insurance Resources provides a full range of aircraft insurance and aviation insurance products to fit each client’s needs. From workers compensation to aircraft insurance, AIR represents all of the major insurance markets and offers the broadest package of protection and the best available rates. SAFE CFI Insurance Now Quoted, Bound Instantly

Covers Instructors Teaching In Non-Owned Aircraft

For the first time, Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) aircraft liability insurance for CFIs is available almost instantly, without the long, drawn-out paper applications required for most other CFI policies.

“SAFE members can now buy SAFE CFI insurance online, pay with a credit card and get confirmation of their new policy almost instantly, usually not more than five minutes,” said Jim Anderson, Senior Vice President of Starr Aviation in Arizona, which underwrites the special CFI insurance. “Previously, flight instructors could have to wait weeks for protection when instructing in a non-owned aircraft, such as one owned by a new student eager to learn to start flying.” The no-delay liability insurance from Starr Aviation is available through Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR) of Maryland.

The unique SAFE insurance provides liability coverage up to $1 million dollars for flight instructors, with sub-limits of $200,000 per passenger and up to $200,000 for damage to the aircraft. Coverage for “negligent instruction” is extended to CFIs for aircraft damage during any dual flight instruction, flight review or checkride the CFI performs.

SAFE membership is required to buy the coverage. The SAFE CFI coverage has many features not offered by competing CFI insurance policies, including multi-engine and seaplane coverage at no additional premium. Other features include a discount for proficiency training and a claim-free history, runway foaming, search and rescue and leased hangar damage.

The special SAFE CFI insurance was first offered in 2010, and unlike some other CFI policies covers an instructor in not only standard category aircraft but also in experimental or restricted category aircraft, in Light Sport aircraft and both single and multiengine seaplanes.

SAFE’s instant CFI protection through AIR is now available in 49 states, with approval pending for Alaska.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2014

Renting an aircraft or borrowing one from a friend comes with a lot of responsibility. A thorough pre-flight is important to ensure the previous pilot did not leave any damage. Have you thought about if you are actually protected by the owner’s aircraft insurance?

When you rent or borrow an aircraft you may not be protected by the owner’s aircraft insurance policy (including your local FBO). If there is an accident you may be held legally liable for damages to the aircraft, or even worse, injuries to others out of your own pocket.

Flying in – Washington DC Special Flight Rules Area

Among the clouds there are many invisible boundaries that pilots must adhere to. Established for security concerns, special events, or even defining the rules of flight for airspace surrounding an airport, these boundaries are important to know about before each flight. One of the most widely known types of airspace is the Special Flight Rules Area, or SFRA, around the nation’s capital of Washington D.C. which plays a role when flying in the vicinity of FDK. You can learn more about the Washington D.C. SFRA here.

About AOPA

AOPA is the largest general aviation association in the world dedicated to protecting its members’ freedom to fly. AOPA member services include legal services, advice, educational events and advocacy work with the U.S. government. You may learn more about AOPA at www.AOPA.org.

Aircraft Insurance FAQ: Can my friend fly my airplane?

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

nose-prop shotMany airplane owners are generous enough to want to share their aircraft with their pilot friends. A frequent question received at Aviation Insurance Resources is “can my friend fly my plane?”

There are several ways to answer this question, starting with the Open Pilot Warranty. Many policies have an open pilot warranty or an open pilot clause stating what pilots are automatically approved to fly the aircraft without having to seek approval from the policy underwriter. The warranty will state the minimum rating and hours required for a pilot to fly the aircraft without underwriter approval.

If a pilot does not meet the open pilot warranty or if the policy is written for named pilots only, it is best to prepare your friend’s pilot history to submit for approval to be a named as an approved pilot on the policy.

Aviation Insurance Resources is happy to provide a form for the pilot to complete or take the information over the phone. Sometimes there can be an additional premium for adding another pilot. This can be due to pilot qualifications or an additional pilot surcharge and would be pro-rated if added mid-term.

To find out more about adding a pilot to your policy or to obtain a free aircraft Insurance, please contact Aviation Insurance Resources by calling 877-247-7767 or visit AIR-PROS.com today!nose-prop shot
