Cirrus SR20Lee McKinley and daughter Melissa McKinley-Smith, of the Pennsylvania branch of Aviation Insurance Resources (AIR) insures a Cirrus SR20 that recently completed a  cross-country trip from the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to the Juneau International Airport in Alaska. The trip, flown by Robin Turner, took 12 days and spanned 5,968 nautical miles of scenic America.

“I am officially one with the plane….and I even have the seat cushion stitching marks embedded on my butt to prove it,” joked Robin.

Robin was one of six aircraft, all Cirrus model SR20s and SR22s, to make the annual journey to Alaska. This annual trip is the inspiration of Luke Lysen, founder of The Flight Academy, who spent several summers in Alaska in his late teens and early twenties.

For a more detailed account of Robin’s trip, please visit her personal blog, which includes daily posts and pictures from her adventure.
